Buying & Leasing Cars

Buying New

Buying a new car in Israel can be expensive because the tax on new cars is very steep. To avoid paying these taxes, you can buy a car on a student visa. There will be a hold on the tax money for a certain amount of years, and once those years are up, the hold will be removed. If you plan on selling the car within a few years, it would be in your best interest to buy a brand that doesn’t depreciate so quickly, such as Toyota. Toyota in Israel is like a Lexus in America.

Buying Used

The used car industry is very popular in Israel. However, it can be frightening as there is a certain element of risk involved. You can either find a deal for yourself on websites such as Yad2, or you can use an agent. An agent will take a cut, but eliminate some of the risks. From my experience, there is an Israeli agent named Avi Yonah who lives in the Ramat Eshkol area who is very reliable and a pleasure to work with. Please contact me for his number and I will be happy to give it to you.

Leasing

Israel hasn’t fully caught up with America when it comes to leasing, but they aren’t far behind. There are a number of leasing companies in Israel that lease new cars and used cars. The agency I used, which I found extremely helpful, is called iAnglo Auto Association.  Their website is https://www.ianglo-auto-association.com/lease.html
